This Tuesday, January 9, Puerto Plata stands out once again in cruise tourism by receiving the visit of 5 impressive ships, two docking at the Amber Cover port and three at the Taino Bay port.
The total number of visitors amounted to 25,882, according to the regional tourism director, Atahulpa Paulino.
Among the cruise ships that arrived at the coasts of Puerto Plata are:
Norwegian Gem, with 2,704 passengers and 1,039 crew members.
Norwegian Encore, with 4,537 passengers and 1,624 crew members.
Carnival Celebration, carrying 5,887 passengers and 1,740 crew members.
Explorer of the Seas, with 3,691 passengers and 1,142 crew members.
Nieuw Statendam, carrying 2,536 passengers and 982 crew.
The milestone marks a precedent in the DR’s tourism industry, generating great enthusiasm among the inhabitants of Puerto Plata. Although it is not the first time it has happened, it underscores the importance of the local economy driven by the thriving global cruise industry, according to RS Noticia.
