The mayor of Santiago, Abel Martínez, has declared 2024 as the “Year of Tourism Promotion of Santiago”, according to the declaration contained in the municipal disposition, 016-2023 of last December 30.
He said that the City Council of Santiago develops programs in different areas, such as actions in favor of tourism and culture in the referred demarcation, with the objective of strengthening its links and extending its scope, as part of the process of integration of the community to the national dynamics.
Mr. Martínez also pointed out that in recent times the city of Santiago de los Caballeros has been considered a model in terms of order, organization and development in the DR, whose dynamism has impacted all areas of development, which is why it is visited by national and foreign tourists.
He indicated that tourism, in its different manifestations, is experiencing an accelerated growth in this municipality, as part of the results achieved by the efficient city model, developed in his administration within the municipal council, according to a press release.
He also highlighted the advances and charms of Santiago, its order, its cleanliness, the route of the murals of the city, the mountain tourism, trekking and the most nascent and that he considers of great impact: the health tourism.
He also emphasized that to make this statement he took into account the new investments in the hotel sector, the large health centers with state-of-the-art technology and international certification and that, in the sports field, it has the most emblematic baseball, basketball and soccer teams, with their facilities.
“But that’s not all, we also have new commercial premises, the expansion of the international airport and the opening of new areas and destinations, cultural, commercial and gastronomic itineraries, strengthened with the signing of agreements with prestigious national and international entities,” said the councilman.
Likewise, the provision issued by Abel Martínez establishes that the slogan “2024 Year of Tourism in Santiago” must be used in all documents stamped by the City Hall.
