San Pedro de Macorís declared an ecotourism province

The Chamber of Deputies approved, on first reading, the bill declaring San Pedro de Macorís as an ecotourism province.

According to the information provided, the bill seeks to promote alternative tourism models that allow economic efficiency, social equity and environmental conservation.

In addition, to create the Ecotourism Development Council of the province of San Pedro de Macorís, as the governing body for the promotion and regulation of ecotourism activities in the province, attached to the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).

The initiative of the law came about by Congresswoman Carlixta Carolina Paula, as it establishes that the province of San Pedro de Macorís is one of the most complete for ecotourism.

At present, the province of San Pedro de Macorís has natural sceneries and other attractions including beaches, rivers, gothic architecture, the Mallén Lagoon, the Cave of Wonders, the Higuamo River Sanctuary, the La Fuente de Oro spa and the beautiful Soco River.
