The general commander of the Army, Major General Carlos A. Fernández Onofre, ERD; the director of the National Police, Major General Ramón A. Guzmán Peralta, and Brigadier General Rafael Almonte Cid, commander of the Joint Metropolitan Command of the Armed Forces, started the operation of dissuasive and preventive patrols, which is carried out by the police and military authorities in different areas of the national geography, especially in Greater Santo Domingo.
The purpose of the deployment is to prevent and stop criminal acts, with dissuasive and preventive patrols in different areas of the country, operations which are carried out in coordination with the National Police.

During a kick-off ceremony, held at the C-2 police detachment in Ensanche María Auxiliadora, the general commander of the Army, Major General Carlos A. Fernández Onofre, emphasized that, “with this relaunch, a new operational approach is being introduced in support of the National Police, in the sense of intensifying and following up, minute by minute, the heat map of criminal actions, with the objective of attacking head-on the incidences that affect citizens throughout the national territory”.
In addition, checkpoints and military police checks were supervised in different locations, such as the following streets: Francisco del Rosario Sánchez with Paseo del Río (La Ciénaga), Ricardo Carty with Backup 17 (Los Guandules), Francisco del Rosario Sánchez with street 11 (27 de Febrero), Albert Thomas with street 13 (27 de Febrero), Manuel Ubaldo Gómez with Eusebio Manzueta (Villa Consuelo) and Manuel Ubaldo Gómez with Tunti Cáceres (Villa Consuelo).
The Commander General of the Army was accompanied by Brigadier General Felix Edwin Santana Morillo, Inspector General of the Army of the RD, and high-ranking military and police officers.
The Joint Unified Command of the Armed Forces carries out multiple tasks, among them, to support the National Police in its mission to ensure citizen security by combating delinquency and organized crime.
