MIREX and Korea Cooperation Agency sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in which both parties commit to promote cooperation between their officials and strengthen their knowledge in international relations.

The agreement, signed by the Vice Minister of Economic Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugo Francisco Rivera, on behalf of Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez, and by the Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency, Joon Sung Park, establishes that cooperation will include the participation of MIREX officials in the KOICA capacity building program, and the exchange of knowledge and experiences on international cooperation.

It also provides for the creation of a committee, composed of staff from both institutions, to review and facilitate cooperation activities to strengthen the capacities of officials working in the area of international cooperation.

KOICA, which works to contribute to collective prosperity and the promotion of world peace, has implemented several projects in the Dominican Republic. Among them: Human Resources Development in Science and Technology (2016-2020); Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy and Strengthening of Adolescent Comprehensive Health (2018-2023); and Strengthening Capacities for the Empowerment of Women (2021-2026).
