Abinader says: “a strong Armed Forces and a strong National Police is a strong country”

President Luis Abinader received on Wednesday the solemn greeting of nine promotions of officers of the Armed Forces and the National Police, to whom he reiterated his commitment to continue strengthening these institutions every year in the face of the challenges facing the country.

During the meeting, the Head of State congratulated each member of the different promotions for serving the country and expressed to them that they and their families should feel proud of the duty they have fulfilled.

Also, as supreme authority of the Armed Forces and National Police, he indicated that, in spite of the adversities, the country is moving forward and that this would not be possible without their help.

The President reiterated that before becoming President of the Republic he already felt admiration and respect for the Armed Forces and the National Police, and added that after three years at the helm of the nation, that respect, admiration and pride, is much greater.

“Much greater than before, and I am even more committed to make the Armed Forces and the National Police, institutions where they can work with much greater dignity and much better conditions,” said President Abinader.

He added: “A strong Armed Forces and a strong National Police is a strong country. A weak Armed Forces and a weak Police Force is a weak country”.

Vice Admiral Cabrera Ulloa reiterates his unwavering commitment to continue contributing to a free, sovereign and safe Dominican Republic for all Dominicans.

During the ceremony, the president of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, on behalf of all the members of the promotions present, thanked the President for the distinction of receiving them at the Government House, to be part of the celebration of the promotions of 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of uninterrupted service in the Armed Forces and the National Police.

Cabrera Ulloa reiterated his unwavering commitment to continue contributing to a free, sovereign and safe Dominican Republic for all Dominicans and as a tourist destination to the more than 10 million tourists who visit annually.

“Today our promotions celebrate in style the pride we feel in honoring even with our lives the oath made to our Homeland and our National Flag.”

The graduating classes that were present were: 35 years old, Coronel Carlos de Lora and Almirante Cristóbal Colón.

For 30 years, Poet Eugenio Perdomo and General Felipe Alfau. For 25 years, General Pascual Ferrer and Emilio Prud’ Homme, and for 20 years, General Juan Contreras, Major Pilot Aníbal Vallejo Sosa and Major General Timoteo Ogando.

After the greetings, the officers presented presents to the Head of State on behalf of the different promotions of the military corps.

On behalf of the promotion of officers, generals and superiors who are celebrating their 35th anniversary, Brigadier General Alberto Montas Castillo, E.R.D and Brigadier General Orison Olivence Minaya, P.N., presented gifts to the Chief of State.

On behalf of the promotion of officers, generals and superiors celebrating their 30th anniversary, Brigadier General Orlando Jerez Espaillat, E.R.D and Brigadier General Pablo Ortega Brito, P.N., presented the award.

Likewise, on behalf of the promotions of officers, generals and superiors who are celebrating their 25th anniversary, Colonel Rafael Ramirez Tejeda, E.R.D. and paratrooper Colonel Elisandro Feliz Diaz, F.A.R.D. presented their certificates.

And on behalf of the promotion of general and superior officers celebrating their 20th anniversary, Colonel Roeny Catano Martínez, P.N. and Major Alonso Calcaño Núñez, E.R.D., presented the award.

President Abinader was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa; the general commanders of the National Army, Major General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre; of the Dominican Navy, Vice Admiral Agustín Alberto Morillo Rodríguez; of the Air Force, Major General Carlos Antonio Febrillet and the director of the National Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta.
