Agreements signed to improve energy service and digital transformation
Authorities have reached agreements for the construction and improvement of electrical substations and to boost digital transformation in the Dominican Republic, official bodies reported Wednesday.
With the aim of the supply, design and construction of several electrical substations, the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUE) and the Korean firm Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) signed a contract on Tuesday.
Specifically, the agreement contemplates the design and supply and the installation and rehabilitation services of the first package of substations of Empresa de Electricidad del Sur (Edesur).
According to the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte, this contract involves the construction and installation of modern and high quality substations that will contribute to a more efficient level of work of the distributor EDESUR, according to a statement from his department.
The government, he added, is also committed to promoting the necessary reforms of changes in the electricity distribution subsector, raising its operational capacity with modern and efficient facilities, in this case substations.
On the other hand, with a view to digital transformation, the Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC) and Huawei Technologies Dominicana have signed a memorandum of understanding.
In this way, it seeks to boost innovation initiatives, digital transformation and the advancement of information and communication technologies in the Dominican Republic, the OGTIC said.
