Category 4 Hurricane Beryl approaching the DR

ONAMET reports that hurricane BERYL, category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, is located at latitude 13.2 north and longitude 63.2 west, that is, about 205 kilometers northwest of Grenada, Lesser Antilles.

The National Meteorological Office (ONAMET) is changing the Alert to a Tropical Storm Warning FROM PUNTA PALENQUE TO PEDERNALES, HAITI BORDER.

Hurricane Beryl Category 4Boat operators are advised to remain in port from Miches (El Seibo) to Beata Island, due to the danger of Hurricane Beryl, which will produce dangerous maritime conditions.

Residents in coastal areas should take the necessary precautions and stay away from areas prone to breakers and possible penetrations in low-lying coastal areas.

It has maximum sustained winds of 240 kph and is moving toward the west/northwest at about 33 kph.
