TRAE has carried out 4,093,820 student transfers

The National Student Transportation System (TRAE) reported that it has reached 4,093,820 student transfers to and from public schools of the Dominican educational system.

Through a press release sent to the media, the director of TRAE, engineer Onéximo González, detailed that the service provided, in this time of operation of the system, has allowed families to save RD1,228.0 million, by not having to pay for the transportation of their children to and from schools.

He indicated that in Hato Mayor, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata and Greater Santo Domingo, provinces where the National Student Transportation System operates, the benefited families used to spend an average of 300 pesos per day to transport their children to school, an expense they no longer have to make, because TRAE offers them a free service.

González pointed out that every day assistants and drivers dedicate 12 hours to the care and accompaniment of the students who board each one of the 409 buses that travel the 148 routes available and cover 1,925 kilometers every day.

In revealing the number of transfers made, González took the opportunity to remind parents and guardians that they can consult all TRAE routes on the Ministry of Education’s web page, where they will find all the necessary information on the routes in operation.

TRAE buses pass through the previously identified stops every 20 minutes and run three shifts per day. The routes start with a first shift from 6:00 to 8:00 am. A second shift from 12:00 to 2:00 pm and a last shift from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

The Student Transportation System of the Ministry of Education is the school transportation service designed and implemented by the government of President Luis Abinader, to ensure that the arrival and departure of Dominican students to and from school is safe, comfortable and free of charge. In that purpose, all the service personnel work hard to achieve it.

TRAE was created by Decree 616-22, on October 23, 2022, which declares its implementation to be of national interest, to guarantee free transportation of children to and from schools, in comfortable, safe and efficient buses, to protect the integrity of students and reduce student absenteeism to class.

The system also implements the safe school environments initiative, improving access roads to schools, where informative vertical and horizontal signs are installed, in addition to preventive ones, to protect the life and health of students.
