Construction of sports center in Sabana Yegua, Azua to be completed in two months

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec) will conclude next April the sports center that it is building in this municipal district, as part of the absolute support to sports that the government of President Luis Abinader is executing.

This was stated by the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, during a visit he made to Sabana Yegua, in the province of Azua, to verify first hand the progress of the work.

Camacho was pleased with the state of the installation, whose works are being carried out by Constructora Solimax.

The Minister was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Sports Facilities of Miderec, Johnny Peña, who corroborated the information provided by the Minister.

The officials were received in Sabana Yegua, among others, by the community and sports leader Kelvin Villar.

“Checking and supervising the works, which are at a fairly high level of construction, we see a very small percentage to finish and we understand that this sports center can be delivered in about two months, more or less,” said Camacho.

He specified that “according to what I have observed and the previous information that I had, we can assure that within two months the works will be concluded and the sports center will be inaugurated immediately by President Luis Abinader”.

He indicated that this is the type of work that the government is leaving as a legacy to children and youth throughout the national territory.

“It is a work that will mark a before and after for the inhabitants who play sports in this community, which for more than 20 years was denied to them by other governments, but in this administration of President Abinader they will receive it in less than two years, since we started its construction”, asserted Francisco Camacho.

“A hit shot away”

On his side, Vice Minister Peña assured that the works are 80% advanced.

“This work is within ‘hit shot’ and we are carrying out an inspection to assure the community that it will be completed as soon as possible”, he explained.

Peña affirmed that all that remains to be done is to lay the central floor, install the toilets, build the perimeter sidewalks, paint and illuminate it, and then proceed with the fixing of the boards, the parales and the boards.

For community leader Villar, the sports center is a work that the sports community of Sabana Yegua is eagerly awaiting.

“We thank the central government and the Ministry of Sports, in the persons of President Luis Abinader and Francisco Camacho, for taking us into account and fulfilling the community of Sabana Yegua with a work that we had requested for years without having a positive response from past governments,” said Villar.

In Padre Las Casas

Francisco Camacho then went to the community of Villa Ocoa Viejo, in the municipality of Padre Las Casas, in the same province of Azua, where he went to verify the condition of a piece of land where the Ministry of Sports will build a field for the practice of various sports and community activities.

Camacho was received by the mayor of Padre Las Casas, Wilmore Morel, councilman Cristian Agramonte and community leader Eury Piña.

Camacho asked Morel to level the land as soon as possible, in order to send the architects of the Ministry of Sports to carry out a survey.

Upon receiving Morel’s assurance that the land would be ready by Monday, Camacho asked him to contact Vice Minister Peña as soon as possible to make the necessary arrangements.

Moments later, the minister handed over two mobile courts and basketballs so that the children and young people of Villa Ocoa Viejo can exercise while the Ministry builds the court.
