Maripily López swears in Mirtha Sánchez as new president of ABERD

After holding an election assembly, the Wedding and Events Association of the Dominican Republic has a new board of directors for the period 2023-2025. The guild that brings together the professionals of this industry elected the slate headed by Mirta Sanchez, who will continue the work of strengthening and developing the sector. The swearing-in ceremony of the new board of directors was held at the Casas del Diseñador, of the Casas del Siglo XVI in the Colonial Zone with the presence of its members.

The new ABERD board is composed of President – Mirta Sanchez / MS Events; Vice President – Yaniris Perez / Events Planners; Secretary – Lil Cespedes / La Novea; Treasurer – Raul Garcia / Eventos y Alquileres del Cibao; Members: Bismark Morales / Rancho La Vereda; Braulio Segura / BS Eventos; Alejandro Taveras / Alejandro Taveras Photography; Ingris Castillo / Esencia Rentals; Joan Puello / DJ Fox; Alby Crespo / Bonchecitos; and the following members: Alby Crespo / Bonchecitos.

During the activity, the Director of Communications Richard Buret opened the meeting, who along with Carlotta Sanlley Marketing Director gave the words of welcome, then Ashley Alemany put in the hands of God the act, giving way to MariPily Lopez, first president of the Association, who thanked the board that accompanied her for eight years, as well as the founding and active members for their continued support and collaboration, after which she proceeded to account for the work done and budget execution.

He emphasized the growth and strengthening of the events industry in the country, as well as the agreements with the IADWP (International Association Destination Wedding Planner) and ABC Latin America that allowed ABERD to enter international forums. Lopez valued the agreements that allowed members to access training and workshops with internationally recognized speakers and panelists. He had words to value the extraordinary resilience of the sector during the Covid-19 pandemic and the lessons learned.

“With the satisfaction of fulfilled duty and with great pride and joy, I hand over the reins of the Wedding and Events Association to a great professional, with an extensive and respected trajectory within our sector and with a clear vision of what we need for the future,” said MariPily Lopez when sharing her words.

Mirta Sanchez, new president of ABERD, valued the efforts and achievements of the previous administration, of which she was also a part, to continue detailing the main guidelines of the board that she will lead, including education, professionalization, the union of the industry and positioning the Dominican Republic as a destination par excellence for the realization of any type of social or corporate event.

During the event, awards were presented to the founding members, as well as to those who were part of the historic first board of ABERD, formed by:
