DAEH reinforces units due to increased movement of people to the Basilica of Higüey

The Dirección de Servicios de Atención a Emergencias Extrahospitalarias (DAEH) informed that it will strategically redistribute its emergency units in the eastern region, in order to respond in a timely manner to the health needs that parishioners may have during their mobilization to and from the Basilica of Higüey, to commemorate the Virgen de la Altagracia.

The reinforcement of the units is part of the operations to be deployed by the Emergency Operations Center within the framework of the plan “Operativo Altagraciano, Conciencia por la Vida 2024” (Operation Altagracia, Conscience for Life 2024).

The director of the DAEH, Juan Manuel Méndez García, informed that all its ambulance and immediate response units (URIS) are being reinforced with medical equipment and the necessary medicines to respond in a timely manner to the increase in health emergencies that the parishioners who travel to honor the protective mother of the Dominican people may have.

Likewise, the head of the institution ordered to maintain the necessary operational personnel to attend to the health situations reported by the citizens through 9-1-1.

“We will reinforce the route to the Basilica, without neglecting any of the prepositions in the rest of the country,” said the director.

Méndez García assured that the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, through the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos, ordered that all necessary efforts be made to keep the units and their personnel prepared to respond to emergencies that may arise.

He also asked the population not to obstruct the passage of the units, since arriving on time to the place of the emergency depends to a great extent on the circulation of the ambulance.
