SNS arrives in Salcedo with health day

With the aim of promoting the prevention and early detection of breast, cervical and prostate cancer, the National Health Service (SNS), took the screening day with the slogan “Check yourself” to the city of Salcedo, Hermanas Mirabal province.

The initiative, sponsored by First Lady Raquel Arbaje, is being carried out within the framework of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and has twelve mobile units of the Program for the Timely Detection of Breast, Cervical and Prostate Cancer and more than 70 health professionals to provide quality and dignified services.

The mobile units, located in the center of the city of Salcedo, will offer mammography, sonomamography, prostate exams, pediatric nutrition consultations, general medicine and dental care during this November 3 and 4.

At the opening ceremony of the 315th day, the coordinator of Development of Health Interventions of the SNS, Blanca Conigliaro, called on the municipalities to take advantage of the moment to have their check-up. “We are committed to the prevention and early detection of cancer,” she said.

For the director of the SNS, Mario Lama, “with his vision of bringing health to all the provinces of the country, today we are here in Salcedo giving them the opportunity to have preventive exams free of charge,” said Dr. Conigliaro.

Meanwhile, the director of the Northeast Regional Health Service, Rafael Rodríguez, highlighted the work that has been carried out in the more than two years that the mobile clinics have been taking preventive health care throughout the country.

Through the Program for the Timely Detection of Breast, Cervical and Prostate Cancer, more than 67,000 Dominicans have been benefited.
