The National Health Service (SNS) has held the third phase of the first national health careers competition for general practitioners and specialists from different regions of the country at the facilities of the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP).
This third and last phase of the competitive examination process consists of the application of aptitude tests, with the aim of evaluating and selecting the personnel that the SNS needs to fill the available positions throughout the country.
A total of 245 physicians have been called for this final phase, of which 93 are specialists: anesthesiology 11, general surgery 12, orthopedic surgery and traumatology 10, emergency 2, gastroenterology 12, gynecology and obstetrics 25, internal medicine 9, pediatrics – perinatology 1, pediatrics 5 and radiology 6. Of these positions, 36 are available for Greater Santo Domingo and the remaining 57 vacancies are distributed among the other regions of the SNS.
The remaining 152 vacancies are for entry-level health professionals: 39 family doctors and 113 general practitioners.
The MAP, as the governing body of public employment, through its minister, Dario Castillo Lugo, placed at the disposal of the SNS the physical facilities of the MAP and the necessary advice for the smooth running of the competition.
The organization of the first National Health Career Competition is part of the commitment assumed by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, together with the Dominican Medical Association (CMD), the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and the SNS, to provide the country with general practitioners and specialists to meet the needs of the national health system, while responding to the demand for more doctors in several hospitals in the interior of the country.
