TRAE has transported more than 3 million students in a year

The National Student Transportation System (TRAE) reported this Tuesday that to date it has transported 3,049,462 students to and from schools, saving families DR 914,838,600.00 in transportation costs.

Through a note sent to the media, TRAE indicated that the students benefited, in Hato Mayor, San Cristobal, Monte Plata and Greater Santo Domingo, have received a quality service thanks to the constant training of assistants and drivers who work for the system. TRAE’s priority is the safety of the students.

He explained that the calculation of the number of students transported is the result of the sum of the use of transportation made by the students of each of the educational districts where TRAE provides service.

He pointed out that the 3,049,642 transfers by TRAE correspond to the following school districts: 04-01, 04-02, 04-03, 04-04, 04-04, 04-05, 04-06, 04-07, 05-04, 10-01 and 10-02.

Students from school districts 10-03, 10-04, 10-05, 10-06, 10-07, 15-01, 15-02, 15-03, 15-04, 15-05, 15-06, 17-01, 17-02, 17-03, 17-04 and 17-05 have also benefited.

TRAE continues to make progress

With respect to the progress of the service, TRAE reported that by February 12, 100 new buses, acquired by the Ministry of Education (Minerd), will start operating, which will be distributed as follows: 55 buses in La Altagracia province, 24 units to Peravia province and 6 for San Jose de Ocoa province.

Some 8 buses will be assigned to Pedernales. Elías Piña, of the 16 buses assigned in the design of the routes, will receive the first 7. Of these, 4 will go to Pedro Santana and 3 to Hondo Valle.

By May, all of the 814 buses acquired by the Minerd will be in operation, in addition to the 956 rented from private transportation companies.

With this addition, there will be 1,770 buses to complete the TRAE service in the 18 regional and 122 educational districts.

TRAE is service

The Student Transportation System of the Ministry of Education is the school transportation service designed and implemented by the government of President Luis Abinader, to guarantee that the arrival and departure of Dominican students to and from school is safe, comfortable and free of charge.

President Luis Abinader created it through Decree 616-22, on October 23, 2022, declaring of national interest its implementation,with the purpose of:

a. Establish a National Student Transportation System to guarantee free travel for boys and girls to and from schools, in comfortable, safe and efficient buses, protecting the integrity of the students and to reduce student absenteeism to class.

b. Implement safe school environments by improving access roads to educational centers and install informative and preventive vertical and horizontal signs to protect the life and health of students.
