Tourism businessman, Rafael Blanco Canto, indicated that the expectations for the tourism sector this year are extraordinary because “we are based on a natural promotion that the country has had worldwide. We are the number 1 destination in terms of growth in the past year 2023. That is really going to mean a greater growth in future years, not only in 2024”.
“I see the future of the DR and of tourism as promising,” he emphasized.
Blanco Canto specified that the level of investment being made in the country, in destinations such as Punta Cana, Bayahibe, Casa de Campo (which is a mature destination), Miches, Pedernales, Puerto Plata (with Punta Bergantín) and others, sustains growth and will guarantee that the DR has greater attractiveness as a tourist destination.
In addition, he said that very innovative niches are being exploited, such as sports, health and retirees.
