Courtyard by Marriott SD: 80% occupancy in first month

The Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo Piantini, after its opening last February, will enjoy an occupancy rate of 80% in its first month of operations, exceeding the expectations of its executives.

José Martí, Corporate Director of Operations of Real Hotels and Resorts, explained that visitors are mostly international, from the United States, Colombia and Central America. “We are in a very strategic point for those visitors.”

Courtyard by Marriot 01“We may be in for a big surprise in occupancy because we are having a great reception; we have a group from the MLB, a company requested 40 rooms for 5 days and others…, so we are surprised that in our first days of operations we have three large groups of guests”, he added.

He stated to that since the US is the DR’s main market in the issuance of tourists, it turns out to be a reliable market and one that guarantees the stay of visitors in the country and the city of Santo Domingo (those who come for business).

“Fortunately the United States does not have strong economic crises and it is sustainable and sustainable for hotel brands to count on that market because when you say that you are going to invest in a country if it has a good part of visitors from the US, you already have a little guaranteed occupancy,” he emphasized.

Martí recalled that the strength of the hotel, with 17 levels and 160 rooms, is MICE tourism “and now that more hotels are opening in the city together with the expected construction of the Convention Center, we will have more opportunities to attract clients”.

“If they build the Convention Center, we will benefit because we will have a good structure to attract this market, although we are going to attack all markets because there is room for everyone here,” he emphasized.
