Eight of the world’s most valuable international hotel brands operate in DR

Of the brands operating in the country, Hilton (1) ranks first, followed by Hyatt (2), Hampton (3), Holiday Inn (4), Sheraton (8), Intercontinental (9) and Embassy Suites (10).

Another 14 brands that appear on the World’s 50 Most Valuable Brands list also operate in the Dominican Republic. For a total of 24 brands on the list of 50 operating in the country.

The leading brand valuation consultancy also shows in its report which are the strongest brands in the world, the most sustainable and those that have experienced the greatest growth worldwide.

After two years of restrictions. 2020 and 2021 on mobility and economic uncertainty, last year saw the start of a return to pre-pandemic travel patterns, which continues to grow.

However, Brand Finance research shows that still more than half, (27 brands), of the top 50 in the industry remain below the values they held before the pandemic.

Brand value is understood as the net economic benefit that the owner of a brand would derive from licensing it on the open market.

Other brands, present or that have been in the Dominican Republic, such as NH Hotels and Grupo Barceló, are the most valuable hotel companies in Spain, according to the report.

Brand Value

Hilton is the leader for the second consecutive year, with a brand value of 11,746 million euros. Its brand value increased by 9%.

Hyatt is in second place for the second year in a row, with a brand value 15% higher at 5.9 billion euros.

Third place Hampton, with a brand value of 4.1 billion euros, fourth place Holiday Inn, with a value of 3.6 billion euros, and Marriott, in fifth place, with a value of 3 billion euros.

Sheraton in seventh position has a brand value of 1.6 million euros, followed by Embassy Suites with 1.3 million euros and in tenth place Intercontinental with a brand value of 1.2 million euros.

Other brands located in the country are Crowne Plaza #13, Westin #15, Courtyard#16, Homewood Suites #18, The Ritz-Carlton#19 (started construction of a hotel) Quality #20, Mercure #21, Autograph Collection Hotels #25, Ramada #26, Grupo Barceló #27, Renaissance #29, La Quinta #34 (hotels under construction), Wyndham #36 (former Amhsa Grand Paradise Samaná), Super 8 #37, JW Marriott #42 and Dreams #48.

Hotels and their brands in the DR

The Hilton brand has the Hilton La Romana (family) and Hilton La Romana (adults only) hotels. The Garden Inn La Romana is also under construction. Hilton operates other hotels in the country but under other of the chain’s brands.

Hyatt has the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana hotels (other hotels are owned by the chain but operate under other brands).

Hampton by Hilton has the Hampton by Hilton Santo Domingo hotel.
Holiday Inn has the Holiday Inn Santo Domingo hotel.
Sheraton owns the Sheraton Santo Domingo hotel.
Intercontinental owns the Intercontinental Real Santo Domingo.
Embassy Suites owns the Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo.
