DR beats Barbados en route to CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup

The Dominican Republic’s senior women’s national soccer team scored its first 3-0 victory over Barbados in a match held on Tuesday night at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium, in its second presentation on the “road to the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup 2024”.

The match had a large crowd, even though there was heavy rain all day in the vicinity of the Felix Sanchez.

The Dominican Republic lost 2-0 to Bermuda on Friday.

Forward Vanessa Kara scored a brace and a header by Brianne Reed dashed the hopes of the Barbados team.

The first goal of the match came in the 39th minute when Kara’s one-on-one inside the penalty area got past goalkeeper Kamillah Burke, setting up the first goal for the Dominicans.

In the 53rd minute Brianne Reed scored the second with a header after a corner kick to the center.

In the 55th minute Kara did it again, this time with a solo shot after a lob inside the six-yard box that beat goalkeeper Burke.

The match had ups and downs for both teams, as the pitch was full of water after several downpours before and in the middle of the match.

The Dominican dominated the game from start to finish, and Barbados was limited by the defense of the home team.

This is how the Dominican team, coached by Henrry Parra, took the field:

Odaliana Gómez, Keisla Gil, Nadia Colón, Winibian Peralta, Jaylen Vallecillo, Vanessa Kara, Alyssa Oviedo, Luca Marte (C), Claudia Alcántara, Gabriella Cuevas, Brianne Reed.
