This Saturday will be celebrated at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, the National Day of the Family, an event organized by the Cabinet of the Family and hosted by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec).
The activities will begin at 8:00 am and at 11:00 am will be the official ceremony for the whole family, which is expected to be attended by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader along with authorities of the more than 20 participating institutions, with the presentation of medal-winning athletes, artistic gymnastics, among other attractions.
Nearly 5,000 people have been invited to participate in the event, who will be able to visit the tents of the different institutions that will be providing services to those present who will attend with their families for a day of recreation, sports and all kinds of fun in this great lung of the capital.
At the press conference to announce these details were, on behalf of the Minister of Sports and Recreation, the Vice Minister of Administration, Franklin de la Mota; the technical director of the Family Cabinet, Leonardo Martínez, who represented the general coordinator, Dío Astacio.
In addition, the monitoring coordinator of this entity, Daniel Martínez Bazil; the director of Sports for All, sports immortal Evaristo Pérez; the director of Human Resources of Miderec, Rosa Rodríguez; the coordinator of Social Management of the National Health Service, Alexandra Tabar, and the pastor Misael de los Santos, coordinator of the Family Cabinet, among other representatives of the institutions that will be participating.
They assured that a great security device has also been arranged by the organizers, so that families can enjoy without any kind of worry.
Evaristo Perez said that the action starts with aerobics for all, in front of the open fields, where there will also be different sports and recreational activities.
Meanwhile, in the tent of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) will be available throughout the day, a golf course simulator, presentation of tourist attractions, as well as guidance on sports tourism. Meanwhile, the main stage will feature the institution’s ballet and trio.
On the other hand, in the tent of the Presidential Commission for the Support of Neighborhood Development you will find a picnic, while enjoying videos, playing dominoes or singing karaoke. Nearby, in the tent of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation you will be able to see an exhibition and display of drones, and at noon there will be a children’s art show with characters and dolls.
In addition, the Instituto Nacional de Auxilios y Viviendas (Inavi) will have in its tent an area for children with clowns and for parents, information on benefits for employees and funeral insurance. Meanwhile, in the tent of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, attendees will receive legal and psychological orientation for people in situations of violence.
The organizers have designated the entire length and width of one of the main internal roads of the Olympic Center as “health street”, where the tents of the institutions related to this important area, such as the National Health Service, will be set up.
For those interested in the economy, in the Banreservas tent there will be talks on financial education with “Lenny the little whale”, balloonists, storytellers and a mobile bank, and in the School of Coaches, personnel from the Presidential Commission for Neighborhood Development will be providing guidance on family entrepreneurship and the use of social networks.
Also at the Escuela de Entrenadores, a program of activities has been prepared starting at 9:00 a.m. with a conference on healthy lifestyles, given by the Ministry of Public Health, which at 9:30 a.m. will be providing guidance on the prevention of teenage pregnancy. At 10:00 a.m. it will address the topic of mental health and coexistence, and at 11:30 a.m. care for the elderly.
Likewise, the Directorate of Sports for All of Miderec has organized a family rally with 20 strategic points, where participants will be guided by a map to find them and once at each point they will have to overcome a challenge to continue advancing.
On its side, the Ministry of Education will give a panel on the family at the Coaches School starting at 1:00 p.m. and the General Directorate of Fine Arts will have in its tent, dramatized readings of family stories.
The hosts of Miderec assured that they have enabled a large parking area to receive the visitors who will arrive to celebrate the National Family Day, which had been prepared for November 18 last year, but due to the atmospheric phenomenon that affected the country, it had to be postponed for this Saturday 20.
