SD 2026 Games to be held from July 24 to August 8

The XXV Central American and Caribbean Sports Games, Santo Domingo 2026, will take place from July 24 to August 8.

The revelation was made by Luis Mejia Oviedo, president of Centro Caribe Sports and Jose P. Monegro, president of the Organizing Committee of the regional multi-sport event.

The choice of these dates was made in line with the organizational progress achieved by the Organizing Committee, and taking into account the activity calendars of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Panam Sports, formerly known as Odepa.

Santo Domingo 2026The Santo Domingo 2026 event is of special importance as it coincides with the centenary of the founding of Centro Caribe Sports, formerly known as the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (Odecabe) and for being the third time that the Dominican Republic will host this event.

Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of Centro Caribe Sports, expressed his satisfaction for the organizational progress achieved by the Organizing Committee. He underscored the responsibility of Centro Caribe Sports to support the Organizing Committee in all stages until the conclusion of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, as well as the commemoration of the centennial of this event.

Enthusiastic support for Luis Abinader

He also thanked President Luis Abinader for his enthusiastic support for the realization of these Games, urging compliance with the work schedule designed by the Organizing Committee.

In addition to Monegro, the other members of the Organizing Committee are, Mayor Carolina Mejía, the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho; the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Asención; the President of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Garibaldy Bautista; Felipe Vicini; José Manuel Ramos; Fernando Langa; Mercedes Canalda and Frank Elías Rainieri.

The president of the Organized Committee informed that more than 30 sports and some 60 disciplines will be competed in the Santo Domingo Games.

A total of 413 events are expected to be held and it is hoped that many of them will be qualifiers for the 2027 Pan American Games.

More than 6,000 athletes from different countries of Central America and the Caribbean are expected to participate, and around 100,000 visitors are expected to visit the country for the event.

Monegro expressed his enthusiasm for these games, which will not only contribute to the development of Dominican athletes, but will also lay the groundwork for the creation of a public policy for sports tourism in the Dominican Republic and the integration of the national sports leadership.
