11.4% of the tourists arriving to the Dominican Republic during May 2023 came through the Cibao Airport. This is equivalent to 70,886 visitors out of 621,575, according to Ministry of Tourism data.
In fact, arriving in the Heart City allows tourists to enjoy cultural tourism at the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration, walk along Los Pepines Street, learn about the tobacco manufacturing process and taste a majarete.
These actions motivate the business sector to invest RD$400 million to strengthen the “city brand”. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.
“We are committed to the tourist development of Santiago and we want to make the necessary investments together with the businessmen to boost the city’s brand,” said the official.
