The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, informed this Wednesday morning that the Dominican Republic broke the record with more than 7 million visitors for the first time, in a breakfast held for the World Tourism Day, in the La Fiesta Hall of the Jaragua Hotel.
He assured that the tourism industry has generated 55 billion pesos in taxes for the country, as well as that the budget for promotions has been reduced in the current administration by 8 million pesos.
He also commented that the Dominican Republic has a seat in the World Tourism Organization, where there are only 32 countries.
Meanwhile, he said that the tourists arriving in the country do not run any kind of danger due to the situation that is being experienced due to the conflict with Haiti.
During the activity, awards were given to entities that have stood out and have made it possible for the tourism figures to reach the goals set.
