4.6 million passengers between January and March in the Dominican Republic

ALTA, Latin American Air Transport Association, reported that the Dominican Republic ranked among the first countries in the region with the highest number of passengers transported by air in the first quarter, with 4.6 million.

That ALTA report details that passenger traffic grew in the aforementioned period by up to 111 percent in the Dominican Republic, always in relation to 2019 data, when the health emergency had not yet been decreed by Covid-19, which paralyzed movement at airports.

It is worth noting that other countries, such as Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Peru also showed a significant expansion of the sector in January, February and March, according to ALTA data.

In the Dominican Republic, the president of the civil aviation board, Marte Piantini, has emphasized in local media that the city of Santo Domingo has the best air connectivity in the Caribbean.
