President Luis Abinader revealed the arrival of two new airlines to Dominican civil aviation, which in his opinion, will promote greater competition and a subsequent reduction in the cost of flights for Dominicans living abroad.
The president offered the scoop during the first meeting of this 2024 of ‘LA Semanal con la Prensa’, which the head of state does every Monday at the National Palace, without indicating names or date for the entry into operation of the airlines.
“And they are coming – this I advance it without saying names – but two more new airlines are coming, because of the incentives we have given them,” Abinader responded to a question initially about the $10 that U.S. airlines charge on tickets for Dominicans traveling to the country.
Regarding this point, the president indicated that under his administration, measures have been taken so that the process can be carried out in less time digitally or through a BanReservas office.
“Since we came to the Government we have implemented several measures so that anyone who wants, anyone who wants, in the U.S., anywhere, who wants to reimburse the ten dollars, can do it in 5 minutes, even digitally, or physically through the Banco de Reservas’ stafetas”, explained Abinader.
