The World Wellness Weekend organization in the DR presented an award to the Association of Hotels and Tourism (Asonahores) and the Association of Hotels of Santo Domingo (AHSD) in which the country was recognized as “the most active Caribbean nation in activities and practices focused on wellness”.

In this regard, Flavio Acuña, ambassador of the World Wellness Weekend in the DR, presented the “Most Active Country in the Caribbean” award to David Llibre, president of Asonahores, and Yudit García, president of the AHSD.

Acuña said that for more than 10 years he has been working to position the country as one of the most important wellness destinations in the world and expressed that this is a great opportunity to show visitors the different options that the DR can offer in wellness tourism.

Meanwhile, Llibre said that the recognition reaffirms the commitment of the local tourism sector to offer a wide range of tourism that allows visitors to carry out activities focused on personal wellness.

García reaffirmed that wellness complements the already known offer of sun and beach and the experience in urban markets with new and innovative options.
