Air Caraïbes increases aircraft capacity to DR

David Collado, Minister of Tourism, indicated that the recent agreement signed with Air Caraïbes, within the framework of the last Top Resa 2023 tourism fair, gives an important support to the French market which “has always been one of the 6 and 7 first places of the countries of origin of tourists to the Dominican Republic”.

“As is known Air France is not flying to DR and we quickly looked for the airline that was competition and we made an agreement with them and they have increased the frequency to 9: 7 to Punta Cana and 2 to Santo Domingo, weekly,” he added.

He said that the airline is also increasing the capacity of the planes. “That is to say, there are many more seats and the reservations they have are extremely high; they have an occupancy rate of 95 to 97%”.

Collado reiterated, this Thursday during the presentation of the statistics for the month of September, that the DR could not lose the French market.

“The European market is going through a crisis due to several factors, but we have compensated with the American market, which is our main market, growing at double digits; we have compensated with the Canadian market, which has always been the second issuer of tourists to the country and especially Latin America: Colombia, Argentina, Brazil and Peru have a strong growth,” he said.
