Omar Chahin Lama, CEO and founder of Air Century, informed that the airline already has the operating permits for the Punta Cana-Miami and Punta Cana-New York routes, which are expected to start in the next few months after other procedures are completed.
He indicated that for these routes they would be using an Airbus A320 with capacity for 180 passengers.
“We have the ‘Proyecto Crecer’ and with it we intend to expand our routes and at the same time fill each plane and be able to sell economic tickets to Miami, New York, and obviously contribute our grain of sand to bring tourists from the referred nations of the United States”, he added.
He detailed to arecoa.com that they will start with three frequencies. “It is still in plans, it is not 100% sure, maybe it will be those three or more; everything will depend on the planning that we manage to do with some tour operators of the area”.
Chahin Lama stated that at the same time they intend to combine the airline’s new operations with those already carried out to the islands. “We will also take all the points that we touch in South and Central America to be able to connect Punta Cana with them to continue to the United States”.
It is recalled that Air Century will be initiating a dozen new direct and regular routes from the Punta Cana International Airport with a view to making up to 553 round-trip flights, and thus consolidate the air connectivity of the Dominican Republic, while allowing more passengers to travel to and from the Dominican territory.
