American’s offensive for Punta Cana

The winter season, which runs from October 29, 2023 through March 30, 2024, American Airlines is operating a record international operation, including more than 400 peak-day flights to 117 destinations.

As a result, the airline will offer 13% more international seats than last year.

In this regard, American will expand service to the Dominican Republic beginning in early December, including the operation of more than 85 weekly flights to Punta Cana (PUJ).

Thus, the airline will connect from Punta Cana three daily flights to MIA, four daily flights to CLT, two daily flights to JFK and a daily service to DFW.

As for Puerto Plata, the winter peak season will include two daily flights to MIA and one daily service to CLT.

“American has a 48-year commitment to the Dominican Republic and we are delighted to strengthen our operations just in time for the winter vacations,” said Jose Maria Giraldo, the airline’s chief operating officer for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

“Our seasonal flights will return even stronger in 2023 with more frequencies to destinations in the country, including Punta Cana and Puerto Plata, offering customers solid connectivity for travel to the Dominican Republic,” he added.

New international destinations to be launched in winter include Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas (GHB), starting February 3; Tijuana, Mexico (TIJ), starting February 15; and Ocho Rios, Jamaica (OCJ), starting February 24.

Meanwhile, seasonal service to Auckland, New Zealand (AKL) resumed on October 26 and to Montevideo, Uruguay (MVD) on October 29.

“We are proud to continue to grow our international network by adding even more flights this winter to many of our customers’ favorite destinations around the world, including Auckland, Cancun and Rome, to name a few,” said Jose A. Freig, American’s chief executive officer.

“We also look forward to our exciting new flights in Latin America and the Caribbean, further positioning American as the largest U.S. airline in the region,” he added.

In addition to reaching a milestone for all of its international operations this winter, including record growth of 10% for Latin America and the Caribbean and 28% for Europe, American will operate a record schedule to several international destinations, including Cancun, Mexico (CUN), Auckland, New Zealand (AKL) and Rome, Italy (FCO).
