The government, through the company Edesur Dominicana, illuminated the ecotourism zone of El Recodo, in Baní, Peravia province, after 30 years with its main road turned off.
These works consisted in the installation of lighting fixtures, new cables, rehabilitation of the electrical networks and installation of other materials to energize the area. This will improve safety levels and benefit more than 50 families in El Recodo, located 2,076 kilometers above sea level.
Also, this will allow the implementation of the Multicultural Museum, which will further boost tourism, boost the economy and represent a new attraction for the province.
In El Recodo is located the impressive Las Yayitas waterfall, one of the most beautiful natural resources of the southern region of the Dominican Republic.
For Estela Valdez, a resident of the area, the change has been radical after Edesur installed the power lines and brought the long awaited electricity to the houses, something that is happening for the first time.
“Gas lamps are things of the past and even my house burned down, but now we have more security with electricity and for that I thank Edesur for bringing us stable light”, he indicated.
Meanwhile, for businessman Armando Cuello, a promoter of the zone, the work of Edesur Dominicana raised the value of the tourist attractions, which will allow visitors to go sightseeing at night.
