7,500 passengers in first year of operations between Cartagena and Punta Cana

Air Century began operations in Colombia last Sunday, December 17, with direct flights between Cartagena and Punta Cana (DR), with the intention of turning the aforementioned capital city into its main hub.

For this reason, Felipe Gutiérrez, Commercial Director of the airline, revealed that “the company’s projections are to mobilize in the first year of the route some 7,500 people between the two destinations. He anticipated that the first two arrival and departure flights showed 100% occupancy and there are already some 2024 seasons that show occupancies between 85 and 90%”.

“We want to consolidate this market with operations in Cartagena, decentralizing air operations that are usually concentrated in Bogota and Medellin,” he added.

He indicated that “the company started operations with two weekly flights and a third frequency that would operate in high season periods such as Easter, mid-year vacations (July – August), School Recess Week (October 8 to 14) and New Year’s Eve (December 15 to January 15)”.

Gutiérrez revealed that in the company’s first flights between Cartagena and Punta Cana, most travelers are from Cartagena, La Guajira and Barranquilla, although there are also passengers from Montería, Valledupar and Sincelejo, according to El Universal.
