The drive to Guananico – an agriculturally rich community where citrus, cocoa and other fruits are grown organically – is as picturesque as the family-owned chocolate farm itself, Hacienda Cufa. Upon entering, you’ll begin a tour with seven stops leading you through cocoa fields, while learning about the history of chocolate and its manufacturing process, from bean to bar. Last but not least, you’ll go to the chocolate hut where you can taste it in all its forms and flavors. There is even a rudimentary outdoor spa area for chocolate facials, before enjoying a typical Dominican lunch served under a straw hut.
