Punta Cana’s beaches offer turquoise, palm-fringed tropical waters and tend to be less expensive to visit than other Caribbean favorites, the publication notes.
It states that the destination has off-season specials and free summer deals for kids at numerous all-inclusive resorts, and even in winter, noting that several all-inclusive properties advertise room rates under $300 per night for two people.
They invite you to consider booking a garden view room at a large resort for additional savings; at the same time, they clarify that you may have to commute to the beach, but still indicate that “you will enjoy access to all kinds of world-class facilities, activities and restaurants.”
Located in the north of the country are the beaches of Puerto Plata and its municipalities such as Cabarete; the publication describes it as a historic and bustling port, a fashionable place for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
They also note that it has many guesthouses and Airbnbs in town with rates as low as $50 per night, plus a variety of all-inclusive resorts along Playa Dorada for every type of budget.
They emphasize that in nearby Cabarete, backpackers will find “excellent kitesurfing conditions at Kite Beach, as well as a lively nightlife.” They also point out that nearby is an area less than 20 miles from the World War II-era Jewish settlement in Sosua, which has some of the best affordable lodging options with ample amenities in the area.
