Santiago businessmen unite to turn the northern region into a film destination

The main initiatives are the realization of the country brand film project “ADN Bachata”, and the “First World Bachata Festival”, next November in the province of Puerto Plata.

The Association of Traders and Industrialists of Santiago (ACIS), the main business entity of the Cibao region, welcomes the first initiative of the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourist Enterprises of the North (Ashonorte), within the framework of the strategy “Two Cities One Destination”, to unify efforts and promote the northern region.

With the presence of several institutions of Santiago and as special guests the Economic and Social Development Council of Santo Domingo, it was agreed to welcome and expand the scope of the strategic alliance agreement between Ashonorte and Adn Films.

This agreement has the objective of converting the demarcation of Puerto Plata in a film destination, world epicenter of bachata and implement music festivals, now extending the initiative to other areas of the northern zone, to implement multi-destination and promote the region in a comprehensive manner in film and local culture.

The businessmen of the northern zone understand that it is necessary to preserve and promote the elements of the Dominican cultural identity as a tool for the promotion of the region and the country, with well-structured initiatives such as those proposed by Ashonorte and Adn films. In this sense, a follow-up commission was created with representatives of the participating institutions.

The meeting was headed by Sandy Filpo, president of ACIS; Carlos Rodoli, president of Ashonorte; Víctor Minaya, president of ADN Films and Samuel Sena, president of CODESSD.

Other participants included Ramón Paulino, president of the Santiago Tourism Cluster, and Germán Ulises Polanco, president of the Santiago Hotel and Restaurant Association, among other businessmen from the sector.
