Mescyt signs with Padre Fantino Technical Institute

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt) and the Instituto Técnico Superior Padre Fantino (ITESPF) signed an agreement to grant scholarships to deserving young people from vulnerable sectors, with the objective of training technicians to strengthen the labor demand in La Vega.

The agreement, signed by the head of Mescyt, Dr. Franklin García Fermín, and the rector of ITESPF, Hilda Pichardo, seals the commitment to train a group of young professionals in areas of competence at the highest level in higher education.

The higher academic programs will be taught in classroom mode and include the Higher Technician in Logistics and Transportation, Higher Technician in Networking, Higher Technician in Cybersecurity, Higher Technician in Graphic Design and Visual Communication, Higher Technician in Accounting and Digital Finance, and Higher Technician in Computer Programming.

Educational model by competencies

García Fermín said that ITESPF’s educational model focuses on strengthening applied knowledge through competency-based learning, using a constructivist, behaviorist and humanistic approach.

He added that the training process will be supported by pedagogical groups and an accompaniment system, fostering social commitment and the experience of values.

Mecyt 01Hilda Pichardo, rector of the Instituto Técnico Superior Padre Fantino (ITESPF), said that this agreement will be of vital importance because of its competitive impact on the community, meeting a crucial need for the future of young people seeking to improve technical education and contribute to labor and social development.

The parties specified that it is of interest to establish a general framework of collaboration to develop joint academic activities, with the purpose of establishing a cooperation agreement.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice Ministers of Mescyt, José A. Cancel and Juan Francisco Viloria.
