Abinader inaugurates Moca-Jamao-Sabaneta de Yásica highway

President Luis Abinader inaugurated this Saturday the road that connects the provinces of Espaillat and Puerto Plata; an experimental high school, as well as the UASD-Moca Center, works in which an investment of more than DR 2.14 billion was made.

In the highway, an investment of more than 2 billion pesos was made to connect San Víctor with Jamao to the north and east with Sabaneta de Yásica, linking the provinces of Espaillat and Puerto Plata.

In his speech, the President highlighted the importance of the work and emphasized the benefits it brings to local production, the development of tourism and agriculture.

Regarding the name of the road, he said: “Justice must be done and I believe that with the suggestion of the name of Don Antonio Guzmán Fernández, justice is done, therefore, I am going to propose that it be the name of this road”.

Government focused on works in the province

The dignitary also said that his government has focused on carrying out significant works in this province, highlighting among them: the UASD Center, Moca campus; a headquarters of the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA); the Moca ring road (under construction); asphalting programs in almost all municipalities and districts; the Gaspar Hernández Hospital; the Moca-Salcedo highway; work on the aqueducts, among other works that are executed with transparency.

Road specifications

The road has a length of 40 kilometers, starting in the municipality of San Victor, Espaillat province, to Jamao al Norte in a stretch of 28 kilometers and continues another 12 kilometers to Sabaneta de Yásica in the province of Puerto Plata, directly benefiting more than 250,000 people, plus the positive impact on improving the economy for ranchers, farmers and the tourism sector.

Abinader Carretera MocaThe Minister of Public Works, Deligne Asención, emphasized that the work promotes the historical productive development of the inhabitants of the Espaillat province and creates new productive activities, businesses for entrepreneurs and a virtuous connectivity for the entire region.

“This investment is part of the vast plan for the development of regional projects carried out by our President Luis Abinader for road infrastructure throughout the country,” said the official.

The work includes the repair and resurfacing of the entire road, vertical and horizontal signaling and high engineering works, to guarantee that in a mountainous route the drainage, the protection with geogrid and the stabilization of the base in an area where there is a geological fault, guarantee the durability of the works and the safety of the passers-by.

The welcoming remarks were made by the provincial governor Juana Rosario de Candelier.

The event was attended by José Ignacio Paliza, president of the PRM; Carlos Manuel Gómez, provincial senator; Andrés Bautista, presidential advisor, district and municipal mayors.

UASD High School and Center in Moca

Earlier, President Abinader reaffirmed his commitment to the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) by leading the inauguration ceremony of the “Ligia Santos Belliard” Experimental High School and UASD Moca Center.

The building, with 29 classrooms, will benefit some 1,680 students, 460 university students and the remaining 1,220 high school students, since it will operate during the day as a high school and at night to house the students of the state academy of the district and nearby areas.

In his words to those present, the rector of the UASD, Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, highlighted the support of the administration headed by President Abinader to the state university, with the interest of continuing to bring public and quality education to all corners of the country.

“What a joy it is to find myself with His Excellency the President, inaugurating the sixth Experimental High School, the Ligia Santos Belliard-UASD Moca Center,” said the rector, noting that the opening of the campus was possible because the country has a president who listens to the demands of his people.

“It is evident that the desire to do, together with a clear vision, allows us to have recovered and deliver today to the Espaillat province, an infrastructure with three classroom buildings, laboratories, intelligent classroom, library, dining room and spaces for administrative offices,” detailed the highest university authority, who emphasized that the educational center fills a void in Moca and the Espaillat province.

“Here, we continue to make progress, for a RD with greater opportunities for access to higher education, which will guarantee a better country for all and that in the Espaillat province we will continue to raise the pride of being UASDians”, Beltrán Crisóstomo added.
