A delegation from Dominican Republic’s official and private sectors will attend the International Trade and Investment Forum in Freeport, Bahamas, where businesspersons and investors from the 54 Commonwealth Nations will also be present.
The Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) and the Bahamas Government will host the Forum slated from February 20 to 21.
The event opens an opportunity for the Dominican delegation to move forward in bolstering the political integration and trade with the Caribbean region, by showcasing to the representatives from Commonwealth countries, Dominican Republic’s advantages as an attractive destination for investment and tourism, and identify new markets for local exports.
Attending the conference will be Bahamas Prime Minister Perry Christie and other senior officials of that country, as well as the industry and investment ministers from Jamaica, Barbados and Dominican Republic, among others.
Delegations from Great Britain, Canada, Malaysia, India, Singapore, Australia, and Africa among others are also expected to attend.
Heading the Dominican delegation will be Industry and Commerce minister José del Castillo, Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD) director Jean Alain Rodriguez, and Fernando Gonzalez Nicolas, president of the Roundtable of Commonwealth Countries in Dom.Rep., among others.
