Ministry of Tourism starts construction of Las Galeras Sanitary Provisions in Samaná

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, broke ground this Sunday for the construction of the sanitary sewerage system of this tourist community, with an investment of approximately 53 million pesos.

The work, which covers 1.7 kilometers, includes the necessary components for the collection and transportation of the municipality’s wastewater, consisting of: a main collector, a service line, house connections and the first phase of the impulsion line.

In his keynote speech, Minister Collado highlighted the importance of the work for Las Galeras, a municipality he defined as a magical tourist destination, blessed by nature.

“These works are part of the concrete actions we are taking to strengthen the growth of tourism in Las Galeras and throughout the province of Samaná,” said the official.

He affirmed that thanks to the determined support of President Luis Abinader, Dominican tourism has had a rapid and real recovery, which is why it has become a world reference.

This intervention, which will cost RD$52,957,881.43. is prior to the work of beautification of the main access road of Las Galeras, a project that has already been contracted by CEIZTUR; awaiting the conclusion of the sanitary provisions to start the reconstruction of the road.

The official ceremony, headed by the Minister of Tourism, was attended by the main municipal and provincial authorities, including the senator of Samaná province, Pedro Catrain; Teodora Mullix, governor; Cecilio García, mayor of Las Galeras; Brigadier General Minoru Matsunaga, director of the Tourist Police (POLITUR), among other authorities and personalities linked to the tourism sector.
