In an atmosphere of fraternity and full of emotions, the second edition of the National Tourism Award 2023 was held.
The facilities of the Senator Puerto Plata, was the setting for this great celebration of national tourism, which rewarded the trajectory and excellence of Dominican tourism. The event brought together different actors of the tourism sector.
The journalist Luis Severino, president of the National Tourism Award, thanked the support received by the Senator Puerto Plata Hotel for being the official home of the second edition of the National Tourism Award and all the sponsors who joined this initiative.
For his part, Alejandro Castillo, general manager of the Senator Hotel, said he was proud to once again host the grand prize, which also serves to motivate people in the tourism industry, especially after all the difficulties of the past two years.
The award was presented to Julio Cesar Llibre Salcedo. For his extensive and valuable professional career of more than 30 years in the Tourism Industry, for his contributions and impulse to the development of the Tourism Sector of the Dominican Republic, and in a very emotional moment, Sabrina Brugal was recognized. For her long and uninterrupted trajectory of more than 30 years, she promoted the development of the tourism sector of the Dominican Republic, with each delivery of “Sabrina en fin de semana” and Alejandro Castillo, for his extensive and valuable professional trajectory of more than 30 years in the tourism industry, for his contributions and impulse to the development of the Tourism Sector of the Dominican Republic.
The grand prize went to the VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort, as hotel of the year, for the achievements and results obtained during the year, as well as the good management of the sanitary protocols, the excellent quality of its product and the high standards in the services and Carlos Jiménez Ruiz, as manager of the year, for the good performance in his functions and for having achieved growth, quality and innovation in the tourism sector.
Among the categories recognized during the ceremony were Aracoa. com, as media of the year, for highlighting and informing each destination in the country and its contributions to the growth of the tourism industry; María Luis Bens, as chef of the year, for the quality and responsibility in the service and innovation in the preparation of each dish; José Castillo García (Aquamanrd), as influencer of the year, for projecting each destination with his image; the Annual Fair of the Caribbean Tourism Exchange (BTC), in the category tourism event of the year, for contributing to the promotion, exchange and development of Dominican tourism; the Punta Cana – Macao Energy Consortium (CEPM), in the category Social Welfare, for its great contributions to the development and growth of communities, contributing to the strengthening of each of the demarcations.
In addition, Katmandu Park Punta Cana, in the Tourism Vision and Innovation category, for generating a unique experience and for its contribution to the sustainable growth of the tourism industry; Homewood Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo, in the City Destination category, for having managed to maintain excellence and quality in services in general during the year.
The Instituto Nacional de Formación Técnico Profesional, INFOTEP, for its great contributions to the industry in training all hotel personnel nationwide.
The Ministry of Tourism was recognized for the great results obtained in the development of local tourism with its campaign Tourism in every corner.
