Puerto Plata shows great representation at ANATO 2024

With the presence of the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado, Puerto Plata began its participation this Wednesday as a guest destination of Mitur in the ANATO 2024 Tourism Showcase, which takes place from February 28 until Friday, March 1.

For the first time, Puerto Plata attends this important international tourism fair, represented by a delegation of more than 80 members, including authorities, businessmen, tourism leaders and media.

The participation of the destination is taking place in the midst of the dynamism it is experiencing, with important projects aimed at revolutionizing tourism in this Caribbean tourist destination.

The importance of Colombia in growth

During the ceremony held at the stand of the Dominican Republic, the minister highlighted the importance of Colombia in the sustained growth of tourism in the Dominican Republic, pointing out the great opportunities that Puerto Plata has to take advantage of this market, which is the third most important for the country, with the arrival of 300,000 tourists a year, growing by 20% in 2023, compared to 2022.

Birgitt Heinsen, president of the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster, thanked the minister on behalf of the delegation present at ANATO, highlighting the moment the destination is living, along with the enthusiasm of the authorities of the public and private sectors, who work hard to offer the best conditions for visitors.

“We are very motivated with the alliance achieved between Mitur, Asonahores, Arajet and our institutions in Puerto Plata. As a result, we came here seeking new agreements and air connections for the destination, and we are sure that we will return with excellent news for our entire sector,” he said.

People who led the opening of the stand:

Leading the stand inauguration ceremony were the ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Colombia, Félix Aracena Vargas, the mayor of the municipality of San Felipe de Puerto Plata, Diomedes García, Manuel Sànchez Silverio, mayor of Maimón, the northern regional director of Mitur, Carlos Atahualpa Paulino.

They were joined by businessmen José Natalio Redondo, Roberto Casoni, Pablo T. Brugal, Ian Schembri Sant, Camilo Brugal, Carlos Medrano, Luis Manuel Pérez, Francisco Gómez, Luis Caraballo, Juan Yamil Musa, Juanqueisy Henríquez, Roger and Solange Mariotti, Luis Mata and Edward del Valle, among others. Sales and Marketing representatives from Blue Bay, Ocean World, VH Hotels and Resorts, Manureva Tours, Amhsa Marina, Natura Cabana and Green Land Bubble Glamping, Freedom Builders Global Group SRL, The Ocean Club Costa Norte, and a commission from the municipal mayor’s office.

Also present were Isidro García and Deyanira Pappatera from Banco de Reservas, Héctor Porcella, general director of IDAC, David Llibre, executive president of ASONAHORES, Andres Marranzini, executive director of the Punta Bergantín project, Antonio Yapor, executive director of the Dominican Airports Association, Luis López, executive president of Amhsa Marina.
