President Abinader participates in IDB Forum in Washington, D.C.

President Luis Abinader began his agenda today, Thursday, in Washington with his participation in the Responsible Investment Forum Alliance of the Americas.

The Forum, organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), began at 9:00 a.m. with a panel in which, in addition to President Abinader, the presidents of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle and Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chavez, will participate.

The event is moderated by IDB President Ilan Goldfajn. U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is also present.

President Abinader has scheduled this morning a bilateral meeting with his Ecuadorian counterpart, Guillermo Lasso.

At noon he will meet with the President of the United States, Joe Biden.

The head of state will also exchange greetings with Dominicans working at the IDB.

Afterwards, the Dominican president will make a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. This event will focus on relations between the Dominican Republic and the United States.

Friday

On Friday he will have another cycle of meetings including a breakfast with the heads of state members of the Alliance for Economic Prosperity in the Americas (APEP), which will take place at the US Treasury Department.

He will then participate in the first working session of APEP Heads of State and Government, led by U.S. President Joe Biden and moderated by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Speeches will focus on economic stability and prosperity. The Dominican head of state will speak during the second session of the APEP luncheon, after 12 noon.

The heads of state of Uruguay, Chile, Barbados, Peru and Panama will also participate. This session will also be chaired by President Biden and moderated by Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

In this session, the interventions of the leaders will focus on the development of regional economic competitiveness and the promotion of greater inclusion.

The session will be held at the White House and President Joe Biden will deliver the closing remarks. In the afternoon, the Dominican President will hold a meeting with IDB President Ilan Goldfajn at the IDB headquarters. He also plans to hold bilateral meetings with other Latin American presidents present.

President Abinader’s return is scheduled for Friday evening.
