Government creates commission to oversee use of Aerodom funds

President Luis Abinader created by decree a commission to supervise the use of funds coming from the concession contract of the international airports José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), Gregorio Luperón, Juan Bosch, Joaquín Balaguer, María Montez and Arroyo Barril.

The special commission was created by Decree 70-24, and will be chaired by Ricardo Francisco Tadeo Canalda Carvajal.

It will report to the President of the Republic and will be administratively attached to the Ministry of the Presidency.

Its main responsibility will be to access the financial information related to the use of the funds received by the Dominican State as consideration for the aforementioned concession contract.

The commission, made up of prominent personalities such as Julio Maximiliano Suero Marranzini and Circe Minnet Almánzar Melgen, among others, will work without prejudice to the constitutional and legal provisions regarding internal and external controls of public funds.

As an additional transparency measure, the commission will submit quarterly reports to the Executive Branch on the progress in the investment of the resources coming from the consideration of the concession contract.

In addition, the institutional collaboration required from the entities and bodies of the Executive Branch to provide the necessary information is highlighted.

On November 14 of last year, President Abinader announced to the country the renegotiation of the contract with Aeropuertos Siglo 21, which entails benefits between 1,905 and 2,155 million dollars for the State, with which he announced the construction of a series of infrastructure works.
