The director general of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), Héctor Porcella, said that the participation of the Dominican aeronautical sector in the second Global Implementation and Support Symposium organized by the ICAO in South Korea will strengthen the country’s efforts to consolidate its position as the main aeronautical destination in the Caribbean.
Porcella, who heads the Dominican delegation to the symposium, said that the ICAO event seeks to promote the improvement of infrastructure and operating procedures aimed at strengthening operational safety and reducing the environmental impact of aviation.
He valued ICAO’s commitment to promote cooperation among States, including the exchange of best practices, technical assistance, channeling of resources and addressing regional disparities in the development of infrastructure, capacity and technology.
Dominican representation at the ceremony included Héctor Porcella, director general (i) of IDAC; José Marte Piantini, president of the Civil Aviation Board; Antonio Yapor Alba, member of the Civil Aviation Board and alternate representative to ICAO; Julio Peña, Dominican ambassador to ICAO; and Federico Cuello, Dominican ambassador to South Korea.
