Raquel Peña to participate in the World Economic Forum, Davos 2024

The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, will be part of the more than 100 representatives of governments, major international organizations, close to 1,000 companies and leaders from different sectors, who will attend the 54th edition of the Davos Forum, organized by the World Economic Forum.

This will be the second time that Peña Peña will represent the country at the international event to be held from January 15 to 19 in Davos, Switzerland, which seeks to be a stage to address the world’s key challenges, as well as to serve as a point of connection among participants.

During her agenda at the forum, whose theme is “Rebuilding Trust”, the Dominican vice-mandate will participate as a panelist in the session “A Key Moment for Latin America”, in which strategies for harnessing human, natural and economic capital that can provide solutions to some of the most pressing long-term challenges of the region and the world will be shared.

Raquel Peña will also attend the special opening event, organized by Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, and Hilde Schwab, president and co-founder of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, which is expected to be attended by heads of state, government and international organizations, as well as members of the International Business Council and Strategic Partners.

Among the most relevant events in which the Vice President will participate with a view to further strengthening international cooperation and the exchange of successful experiences, is the “Dialogue between women political leaders: AI and political leadership: obstacles and possibilities”, which will delve into the interaction between artificial intelligence and political leadership, with a special focus on viable strategies and leveraging AI effectively to address the challenges for women to assume political seats.

She will also participate in the “Addressing the North-South Schism” session, which will be attended by Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), among others.

Raquel Peña will also hold several strategic meetings in order to project and give continuity to the issues addressed with regional leaders in the Davos 2023 edition, as well as to expand and strengthen the DR’s ties with other countries, and with business and economic personalities who consider the country as a favorable destination for their investments.
