The executive director of Fiduciaria Banreservas, Andrés Van der Horst, affirmed that the project in Cabo Rojo, Pedernales should serve as a model to promote other projects under the figure of the public trust.
“With the land of Bahía de las Águilas, first it is safeguarded in the trust, but the capacity is given to private investors so that, together with this trust, they can develop 12 hotels around the entire Cabo Rojo area to develop the new southern destination, which will have an airport; 4,700 rooms that will be built in these four years and, in addition to that, a cruise port,” he said.
He stated that it is estimated that this year 2024 there will be 10,000 direct jobs and in five years there will be 60,000 in the area.
According to the official, the use of the trust guarantees that the lands will remain under the protection of the State and its vocation, whether urban, agricultural or tourist, is carefully analyzed.
“The model implemented in Pedernales will be a reference to promote other tourist destinations in the country'”, he said.
