Agreement between Scotiabank and ADERES will strengthen the national gastronomic industry, say experts

Scotiabank and the Dominican Restaurant Association (ADERES) formalized an alliance for the next three years to promote and recognize the Dominican gastronomic industry through a series of activities to be held at the SDQ Gastronómico, which includes more than 160 restaurants in Santo Domingo, Santiago and Punta Cana. The American Express® (AMEX) brand, exclusively represented in the country by the Bank, will be the main partner in sponsoring the event.

In addition, Scotiabank customers will be able to enjoy special discounts and cashback promotions within the AMEX Experiences platform.

Gonzalo Gil, executive president of Scotiabank Dominican Republic, said that the agreement seeks to provide customers with the best portfolio of benefits and experiences. “We are pleased to become an official sponsor of the SDQ Gastronómico event lineup, in order to support the highest culinary standards and promote the use of American Express® credit cards as the first payment option in the country,” said Gil.

Omar Cepeda Darauche, president of ADERES, indicated that “in the Dominican Republic we have a great culinary diversity that allows us to offer unique and affordable taste proposals to enjoy a route that combines skills, presentation, quality ingredients and cultural identity”. “The continuity of this strategic alliance, which has the support of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants (ASONAHORES), allows us to strengthen our gastronomic industry and at the same time strengthen a relationship that contributes to the development of gastronomic tourism in the country,” said Cepeda.

David Llibre, president of ASONAHORES, said “this alliance comes to support the support received over the years to the various events presented in the framework of the SDQ Gastronomic, through its Restaurant Week, Tapas Night, Las Maridaje and The Awards as closing night, which allows us to continue our agenda to promote the quality and haute cuisine offered by the local gastronomic industry.

Also present at the formalization of the agreement were Filipo Ciccone and Sarah Peña David, vice president and executive director of ADERES, respectively; Andrés Marranzini, executive vice president of ASONAHORES; Gervasio Guareschi, vice president of Cards & Payment Methods of Scotiabank; and Michael Estrella, manager of strategic alliances and promotions of the Bank.

Scotiabank has exclusive rights to acquire and issue AMEX cards. Through innovative value propositions, the Bank has consolidated its position in the Dominican financial sector, positioning itself as the financial institution with the widest range of credit cards and brands shared with the country’s main commercial groups, including American Express® Suma CCN, American Express® Carrefour and American Express® Casa de Campo; Scotiabank Bravo, Scotiabank PriceSmart and Scotiabank millas AAdvantage®. Customers access products and enjoy many extraordinary benefits that allow them to live a memorable experience, with world-class support and service.

One of the most valued benefits is the Membership Rewards® program, which allows them to accumulate points that never expire, redeem for tickets, cruises, local and international gift cards, and even transfer those points to international programs. Customers have access to the American Express® lounge at Las Americas Airport, and Platinum cardholders also have Priority Pass membership, which allows them access to lounges at airports around the world.
