The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) will take the 32nd edition of its “Health Route: Change your Lifestyle” to Arroyo Gurabo, in the province of Santiago, this Friday 12 and Saturday 14 of this month, with a more lively and fun theme for all the residents of that place and surrounding areas.
This was stated by Dr. Gina Estrella, director of Risk Management and Disaster Attention, who also informed that the more than 35 health services of the “Ruta de la Salud” will be available in Arroyo Gurabo, in addition to various children’s activities for the enjoyment of all children who may attend the operation, starting with consultations from 7:00 in the morning.
He stressed that this version is a way to start the new year 2024 reducing the indicators of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, overweight, obesity, among others. As well as continuing with vaccination days to keep respiratory viruses under control.
“This will be a very special Health Route: Change your Lifestyle, since it will have an area for the children of this community and surrounding areas, where they will receive consultations, educational talks, entertainment with clowns and magicians among other surprises, in addition to the 35 health services that this operation usually offers to the general population,” said Dr. Estrella.
This great activity will be headed by the Minister of Health, Dr. Daniel Rivera, who will start the activities with consultations and cardio metabolic evaluation, accompanied by other medical professionals, officials and other authorities and personalities of the community.
Dr. Estrella urged the people of this area and nearby communities to participate in this great Health Route, which aims to detect diseases and to influence the population to maintain a healthy lifestyle to take care of their health.
The great “Ruta de la Salud: Cambia tu Estilo de Vida”, seeks to influence a change in the indicators of chronic non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, among others.
As usual, there will be consultations in the specialties of pediatrics, dentistry, general medicine, gynecology, ophthalmology, as well as electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, mammography, sonomamography, sonography, prostate evaluation and PSA tests, blood typing, SeNaSa carding, delivery of medicines, first aid and basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation training sessions, among other services.
In addition, there will be clinical laboratory sampling; the Economic Canteens will be installed; healthy cooking workshop, by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and guidance on chronic diseases and health promotion issues in general; there will also be posts for cardiometabolic evaluation, vaccinations and psychological help.
In addition, there will be free activities, such as raffles and donations of some items, educational talks for young people on healthy habits, walking, opening of health services by the National Health Service (SNS), road safety education, among other activities, all free of charge.
The project “Ruta de la Salud: Cambia tu Estilo de Vida” is an activity motivated by the data obtained in an operation of detection of Overweight, Obesity, Diabetes and Hypertension (SODIH), which aims to obtain results of incidence of these diseases in the various provinces, with the support of various public and private institutions.
The Health Route is coordinated by the Health Area Directorates and the Risk Management and Disaster Attention Directorate, with the collaboration of the Vice-Presidency of the Republic, the Office of the First Lady, the Essential Medicines Program and Central Logistic Support (Promese/CAL), the National Health Service (SNS), the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), among other public and private institutions.
