Ministry of Agriculture pays DR 792 million

By order of President Luis Abinader, the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz, made a payment of DR 792 million to 333 producers of various items and service providers.

Among the beneficiaries are onion producers of San José de Ocoa, with 158 million pesos; Union of Garlic and Horticulture Producers of Constanza, DR 70 million; bananas, DR 20 million; fungicides, DR 213 million; land preparation and heavy equipment operators, DR 295 million and DR 36 million, respectively.

The head of the agricultural portfolio said that “it was impossible to end the year without honoring the commitments made, and today we are delivering part of the outstanding payments, fulfilling the commitments made in a transparent manner by the Dominican government”.

He also emphasized that the files of producers with outstanding debts are being completed in order to settle them as soon as possible, following the guidelines given by President Abinader, to comply with the sectors and producers.

Producers and suppliers came to receive their payments at the Agriculture headquarters.

Johnny Melo, from the Association of Onion Producers of San José de Ocoa and María Gómez, from the Association of Tractor Drivers, on behalf of their parties, thanked President Luis Abinader and Minister Limber Cruz for the payments received.
