Grupo Poma begins construction of Courtyard by Marriott Hotel

Grupo Poma and its hotel division Real Hotels & Resorts began construction of the Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo -Piantini- Hotel, in a ceremony held in the presence of the President of the Republic Luis Abinader in the company of the corporation’s main executives.

The Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo -Piantini- is the 22nd hotel complex operated by Real Hotels & Resorts and the third in the Dominican Republic, located on Freddy Presto Castillo Street, corner Porfirio Herrera, whose construction will generate around 420 direct jobs, 725 indirect jobs and 150 permanent jobs once the hotel is operational. It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2023.

Fernando Poma, CEO of Real Hotels & Resorts said that for the implementation of this project “all the stars have aligned”, ensuring that the new Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo -Piantini- will have unique differentiators that together with a suitable brand such as Marriott International will provide a sustainable competitive advantage to the project.

He emphasized that the Dominican Republic has a favorable, friendly and safe environment for long-term investment, which added to the good results historically obtained by the other two hotels that Real Hotels and Resorts already has in Santo Domingo, gives him the confidence that the objectives set for this new venture will be achieved.

The Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo -Piantini, with 17 levels, will have 160 rooms of different categories, which will have the latest technology in approach locks, allowing guests to open them with their cell phones.

The design of the rooms includes thermo-acoustic anti-noise windows and an antenna in each room ensuring the best internet connection and speed.

With 6 levels of parking for 108 parking spaces, the hotel will have three meeting and event rooms of 58 m2 each, which will be equipped with the latest audiovisual and sound technology.

The hotel will have a lobby bar with capacity for 44 people, and on the second floor there will be a Kitchen & Bar restaurant for 98 guests with an open kitchen, as well as an express station where guests can purchase basic necessities. On level 17 will be the Lap Pool with a length of about 15 meters long, and a bar with capacity for 14 people.

The 130 sq. m. gym, equipped with high-end equipment, will have a direct view of the pool area.

President Luis Abinader was accompanied by Mr. Fernando Poma, Executive Director of Real Hotels & Resorts; Alberto Poma, Executive Director of Grupo Roble; Matt Knights, General Manager of Marriott International for the Dominican Republic and Haiti; together with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.
