The visit of the president of Iberostar to the Cabo Rojo area this Saturday was historic and key, very key for the take-off of tourism in Pedernales, in order to learn about the progress of the hotel that the Spanish chain will manage in this emerging destination, and which will be the first within this ambitious tourism development project to open its operations.
“We received in Cabo Rojo, Pedernales the important visit of the president of the Iberostar Group, Miguel Fluxá, accompanied by executives and related of this Spanish chain, who made an aerial tour over the project and the whole area, to know the progress of the construction of the first hotel that will be operated by Iberostar Hotels & Resorts. Definitely, Cabo Rojo will be its new home!”
This was stated in his social networks, Sigmund Freund, director of the General Directorate of Public Private Partnerships (DGAPP), who specified that “It is extremely important, I think historic, the visit of Don Miguel Fluxá, who is an iconic figure of world tourism, that Iberostar is here (Cabo Rojo) and the presence of him today in the progress of this project, is of great value to us.”
“We hope he can return when we are formally opening the Iberostar hotel,” the official said.
On his side, Miguel Fluxá expressed that “32 years ago we came to the Dominican Republic to buy the first land and since then we have had a great affinity with the Dominican people, because the Dominican people are good, they are hard-working… We feel very well here, and we always want to collaborate with the authorities in worthwhile projects.”

The president of the Iberostar Group invited the president of the Preferente Group and editor of the tourism digital arecoa .com, Rafael Caballero, to his visit to Pedernales. Fluxá and Caballero have been close friends for 40 years and have traveled to the country on countless occasions.
